Update #5

Wow. We are in our last week of Joyward, and we’ll get all sentimental on you later, but for now, wow…(we may have shed some tears today). Beautiful chapters are hard to close. Last time we update you guys we were enjoy the sunshine in West Palm Beach, FL! Currently we’re sitting at one of Nashville’s most visited coffee shops, Barista Parlor, and enjoying some delicious, smooth coffee. We feel the eagerness to fully embrace each stop, as it’s coming closer to the end. Therefore we’ve been going full throttle so the past two weeks have felt like a blur, a very fun blur. Savannah, GA: We spent a whole five hours in this beautiful city but we made the most of those hours. We spent the first couple hours at Foxy Loxy Café doing some planning then we went out and explored! We took advantage of the free bus to Historic Downtown Savannah and spent the rest of our time walking around the stunning streets. Wrightsville, GA: Long story short, Kyle and I met my older …

Update #4

We didn’t win the lottery you guys. Well, we didn’t exactly try either. We really really thought about it but it was coffee or a lottery ticket. The bottom line is, as of now, Joyward is sadly wrapping up in about three weeks. Last time we wrote an update we were heading to Joshua Tree National Park. Now, what feels like a hundred bug bites later, we write to you from West Palm Beach, Florida! Kyle, how do you feel about Joyward wrapping up? “In one word: Bummed. In more than one word: Our original plan for 4 months seemed like a long time at first and I was worried that we may be biting off more than we could chew. Now I feel like I could do 4 more (at least). Don’t get me wrong, the trip has been full of it’s struggles and road blocks, but it seems like we’ve really just hit our stride and we’re just getting started. Then again, that’s exactly what I do feel like. The trip may …

Update #3

We’ve been in Socal for four weeks, which means: sunshine, consistent showers, and laundry! Last time we updated you guys we were on the coast of Oregon heading to Portland (loved it). Now, I’m sitting at my dad’s, on a couch (I’ve missed you) with my dad’s new Mini Aussie chewing my blanket. It’s a good thing you’re cute! Since our last update, we had gotten really overwhelmed by the damage wet weather was doing to Joy. Since it was non-stop rain in Oregon and mostly Washington, we weren’t getting a break and the damage kept piling up. At one point we emptied out our belongings and mattress and stayed in a friends house so that the trailer could air out and the mold could dry out. We bought a tarp in hopes of stopping further damage, and then we bought some styrofoam insulation and covered our rear window thinking that would help condensation. I apologize to anyone in Oregon who we crossed paths with, because we were learning to have Joy despite our circumstances …

Update #2

It’s officially been over a month since we set off for Joyward! Now, a quarter of the way through, we have already seen so many incredible sights and spent time with some wonderful people. When we last updated you guys, we were in Colorado and preparing to head to Gillette, WY. Now, sitting a a charming coffee shop in Cannon Beach, Oregon, we will fill you guys in on what road trip life has been thus far! We both agree that the first month of road life has been….a month of trial and error, and navigating what tiny living actually and practically means for our everyday life. 84sq feet (that’s Joy) looks really cute with a wide angle lens on my camera, and it does look cute in person, but it’s only a brief second before you need to get something out of the fridge, under the bed, or under the booth. I (Ceci) told Kyle that I feel like we’re constantly dancing when we’re in the trailer because of the lack of actual floor …

Joyward Update #1

January 5th, 2016 we officially set out to live on the road for four months. Just a couple humans, a couple cats, and a vintage 60’s trailer. Oh and did we mention, in the most brutal time of year? WINTER. It’s only been 5 days and already we’ve waked up to ice-covered prairies, been detoured by a heavy snowstorm and purchased an extra heater. So, it has been quite the voyage thus far. Which means we are learning a lot. We are reminding ourselves that this is still all new for us, and we will get into a groove. We’re figuring out our jobs as we set up and tear down the trailer, what cooking and grocery shopping looks like, and how to keep organized. The cats have it easy; they are there to keep us warm.   Our favorite part about road trip living so far: Kyle: The incredible panoramas that we have seen of wide open spaces and mountain ranges. Ceci: The charming small towns, and having some quality time with friends! The …

Joyward Launch

January 2nd, 2016 we had our Joyward Launch party in Tulsa, Oklahoma! It was extremely bittersweet. (I love you all so much!) I think one of my favorite songs from The Paper Kites says it so perfectly, So I’ll go but we know I’ll see you down the line. We’ll hate what we’ve lost but we’ll love what we find.. We aren’t going to loose these Tulsa friendships by any means, every single one of you are incredibly special to us, but our season, our time, and our daily Tulsa life has come to close. It feels like yesterday when it all felt new, and we didn’t know any street names, restaurants, or faces. Once we got settled into our jobs, found a church, biked around, and drank some coffee (chai latte please) we started to understand our new city. Thank you, thank you for all of the support, the encouraging letters, the gift cards, the prayers and the care packages. You guys are the sweetest and you’ve made me cry (out of joy and love). Today …
